The term Patrol ng Bayan (The Nation's Patrol) was coined in 2003 during the national TVP's relaunch. There is the elite Patrol ng Bayan group (those reporting the local/national/global news), Police Patrol (those reporting local news-mostly peace-and-order news), Sports Patrol (for the sports news) and Star Patrol (for news in the Philippine entertainment scene). That changed in 2004 when all reporters were under one umbrella--the new name: Patrol ng Pilipino (Patrol of the Filipino).
