Prince William attended an official engagement yesterday, visiting his charity Centrepoint as he marks 20 years of being their patron.

And it has now emerged that following this visit he jumped straight on a flight to Monaco for a personal trip to watch his beloved football team Aston Villa play.

The Prince of Wales was photographed watching the Champions League game in the State Louis II between Aston Villa and Monaco yesterday evening.

He was sitting next to longtime friend Thomas van Straubenzee, who is also Princess Charlotte’s godfather, and another mutual friend. The Prince looked tense at times in the match which saw his side lose 1-0.

One social media user, who appeared to have been sitting just behind William, posted an image of the Prince turning around in his seat. She wrote in French of her surprise at coming face to face with him.
